Memorial Day. Remembering Our Heroes.

by — • May 29, 2017

For many Americans the Memorial Day holiday means two things: a day off and the official start of summer.

On May 5,1868 this national day of honor was created as a day for all Americans to honor and commend the men and women who gave their lives to ensure all of our rights to freedom. To help you celebrate the true meaning behind this day, here are some memorable quotes from some of the most inspirational leaders in American history:

“Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.”

President Harry S. Truman

“For love of country, they accepted death.”

President James Garfield

“It doesn’t take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle.”

General Norman Schwarzkopf Jr.

“How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!”

Maya Angelou

“In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved.”

President Franklin D. Roosevelt

“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.”

General George S. Patton

On this day, we encourage you to take the time to reflect upon the lives of the brave men and women that showed the true spirit of patriotism and valor for our freedoms. Happy Memorial Day from all of us at R2R Marketing.
